Cornelia "Case" Van Gorp

February 28, 1909 - June 12, 2007

Cornelia Van Gorp was born to Martin G. and Bertha (Schuttinga) Zylstra on February 28, 1909 in Sully, Iowa. She passed away at the Pella Regional Long Term Care Center on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the age of ninety-eight years.

Cornelia attended the Sully Christian School through the eighth grade and received a diploma from Wayne School of Practical Nursing in Chicago, Illinois December 20, 1957.

On February 11, 1932 she was united in marriage with Peter Rus Van Gorp in Pella, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Donna Mae, Bette, Esther and Robert. They always lived in the Pella area.

Cornelia was a member of Faith Christian Reformed Church, Bible League, and Gideons Auxiliary. She went with Peter on many work crusades with the C.R.W.R.C. and World Gospel Mission in the States and Bolivia, Honduras, and Kenya. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, birds, gardening, and her family.

Cornelia is survived by her son: Robert "Bob" (Sheila) Van Gorp of Newton, Iowa; two daughters: Bette Kelderman of Knoxville, Iowa and Esther (Bill) Beimers of Luverne, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; a sister-in-law, Leona "Lee" Zylstra; and good friends: Verlan DeZwarte of Chariton, Iowa and Darrell Kelderman of Pella, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Martin and Bertha Zylstra; husband: Peter R. Van Gorp; daughter: Donna Mae De Zwarte-King; granddaughter: Kathy De Zwarte; five sisters: Martha Zylstra, Ann Zylstra, Alyce Ver Meer and two sisters in infancy; six brothers: Cornelius, Gerben, Rienk, Paul, Gerald and Chester "Duco" Zylstra.

"Case", as she was affectionally known, will be missed by her family and many friends.
