Darwin Lee Vos was born August 24, 1958, to Raymond and Lois Nieuwsma Vos in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Darwin was baptized at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.
Darwin lived in Sully until age four, when he moved to Newton. There he attended Berg Elementary School until age nine, when the family moved to Washington, Iowa. He then moved to Worthington, Minnesota, where he graduated from Worthington High School with the class of 1976. Darwin attended Minnesota West Community and Technical College for electromechanical drafting.
Darwin worked at Scherr-Tumico in St. James, Minnesota, for two years before moving to Mankato. There he worked at Mico, Inc. as a Master Draftsman.
Darwin enjoyed motocross riding and racing at the Kato Cycle Club, playing golf, and playing his guitar with family and friends. He also loved to ride his motorcycle to the river to meditate and enjoy nature. Darwin adored his niece and nephew, as well as their dog, Sara.
Darwin was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, in 1998; his grandparents: Joe and Elizabeth Vos and Henry and Irene Nieuwsma.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his mother, Lois Vos, of Pella; his brother, Dwight Vos, of Newton; his brother, Dennis and his wife Mici Vos, of Ankeny and their children Cassie and Cody; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
