In Memory Of

Beverly A. Toom-Turner
Pella, Iowa
(Age 71)

July 5, 1940 - August 26, 2011

Beverly Ann De Moss Toom-Turner was born July 5, 1940, to Lee and Mildred Schrader De Moss, in Knoxville, Iowa. She passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of seventy-one.

Beverly grew up in the Knoxville area, received her early education in the Knoxville Schools, and graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1958. On May 17, 1957, Beverly was united in marriage with Melvin Leroy Toom at the Third Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. To this union three children were born: Terri, Pam, and Randy. Beverly and Melvin were active in the Marion County Cattlemen and the Marion County 4-H clubs in which their children were involved. Melvin passed away December 2, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer.

On May 31, 2008, Beverly married Donald Turner. They enjoyed their time together on the Toom family farm south of Pella. Beverly enjoyed baking, planning and preparing family dinners, dancing, teaching her grandchildren how to two-step and waltz, tending to her flowers and yard, camping, and family reunions.

Beverly was employed as a cashier at the Pella Hy-Vee until her health no longer permitted. She was a member of the Heartland Reformed Church in Pella.

Those who will cherish her memory are: her husband, Donald Turner; her three children and their spouses: Terri and Jim Frank of Pella, Pam and Mark Thompson of Lohman, Missouri, and Randy and Holly Toom of Pella; five grandchildren: Teric James (T.J.) Frank, Tori Lynn Frank, Clayton Alan Thompson, Adam Daric Toom, and Lynae LeahAnn Toom; two great-grandchildren expected to arrive in January; two step-daughters: Kim Turner and Karla Ehler; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Larry and Mary Toom of Pella.

Preceding her in death are: her husband Melvin; her parents, Lee and Mildred De Moss; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marion A. and LeahAnn Toom; and her brother Rodney De Moss.

Beverly will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a bright spot in so many lives.
