Chris was born in Pella on February 10, 1974, to Bob & Carol DeRonde. Chris grew to love the farming life in his early years where he helped his dad and grandfather care for livestock and work the fields. Chris graduated from Pella Community High School and continued his education at Northwest Iowa Community College and went on to become a journeyman lineman. Chris was employed throughout the years by several electrical construction companies, City of Pella Electrical Department and Colorado Springs Utilities where he spent his free time repairing vehicles to donate to the needy. He was presently employed by International Transmission Company in Perry, Iowa. As a journeyman lineman Chris worked diligently to keep the "lights on" and power going. Chris' motto was "A line ranger is no stranger to danger."
Chris grew up in a four generation farming family and truly loved every minute of being on the farm. Chris returned every spring and fall to spend his "vacation time" from electrical work to help his family harvest and plant the crops. Being on the farm was one of Chris' favorite places to be whether it be in the combine and tractor or hunting and enjoying the outdoors. He was a very hard worker and skilled mechanic who enjoyed repairing old Oliver tractors along with operating heavy equipment.
Above all else, Chris was a loving and generous son and brother who was a joy and inspiration to his family and friends. He was always available for anyone and lived his life with a heart of love.
Chris' strong will to live, his faith in God our Savior and the love and prayers of his family, friends and many supporters carried him through his months of chemotherapy and treatments.
Chris went to our heavenly home on March 11, 2014, at the farm surrounded and supported by his loving family. We will always remember his loving spirit and warm heart and he will be dearly missed by all.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Bob & Carol DeRonde, his brother Kevin and his wife Tori and his many friends.
