Marjorie Catherine (Hugen) Schimmel, was born at home southeast of Pella, on February 27, 1925, to Jessie (De Vries) and Henry Hugen.  She passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in Pella, at the age of ninety.  Marjorie attended Pella Christian Schools and was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

On November 9, 1944, Marjorie was united in marriage to William H. Schimmel at her parents' farm home north of Pella.  To this union they were blessed with four daughters:  Joyce, Judy, Shirley, and Sylvia.  She lived most of her life in the Leighton and Pella area except when she and Bill moved for his military service.  Marjorie was a self-proclaimed "research associate in the field of children."  She was truly an inspiration to her family, always putting others first.   Marjorie was a part of Crossroads Prison Ministry for more than ten years, and loved helping others learn about God.

Marjorie is survived by her husband Bill; daughters:  Joyce Smith of Springfield, Missouri, Judy and Scott Applebee of Delray Beach, Florida, and Shirley Schuring of Pella; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Bernice (Hugen) Kredit of Phoenix, Arizona.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sylvia in 2009; parents-in-law Dick and Hattie (Van Hal) Schimmel; four brothers: Bert, John, William and Raymond Hugen; and two sisters-in-law: Gerlene and Wilma.
