Send Your Sympathies

Donald Lee Dop was born to Sam and Minnie (Van Vark) Dop on May 16, 1943, in Prairie City, Iowa.  He passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015.

Don attended Pella Community High School and lived in Pella his entire life.  He married Twilla Tukker on November 12, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Pella.  They were blessed with two daughters, Susan Lee and Amy Dawn.  Throughout his life, he was a farmer and maintenance worker.  He worked for Central College for over 30 years, where he retired in 2013.   Don was in the Iowa Air National Guard.  He entered service on June 15, 1963, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent on June 14, 1969.  In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.  Don loved being outdoors, gardening and farming.  He was soft-hearted man, who was a hard worker and would help-out anyone in need.   He was a member of Des Moines Woodworkers Association, and the Red Rock Thrashers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Twilla, two daughters:  Susan Dop of Pella, and Amy and Matthew Brown of Alburnett, Iowa; three grandchildren: Christian, Brendan and Melanie Brown; a brother Melvin (Mary) Dop; and siblings-in-law: Robert (Kris) Tukker, Dorothy (Gaylor) Carter, and Judy Forth.  In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and parents-in-law Cornie and Florence Tukker.
