Marjean Mae (Gosselink) Uitermarkt was born to Leonard J. and Mary Magdalene (Hiemstra) Gosselink on July 1, 1934, in Pella, Iowa.  She was a graduate of Pella Christian High School in 1952.

Marjean married Verlan Uitermarkt on March 22, 1957, in the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.  To this union, they had two daughters:  Mindy and Cindi.

After high school, Marjean worked at Rolscreen and later worked for Ideal Manufacturing in Oskaloosa.  She returned to Rolscreen prior to starting a family.  After her children were raised she worked in the admissions department at William Penn College in Oskaloosa, for 15 years.  Later, Marjean owned and operated Closet Collections in New Sharon until her retirement.  She cherished spending time with family, family vacations, and spending time with "the Gosselink sisters."  Marjean and Verlan enjoyed going to music shows in Branson and visiting Verlan's military friends.  Marjean and Verlan got together with their "five couple" group of friends for over 55 years.  Most of all Marjean loved attending her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities.  Marjean was a former board member of New Sharon Community Daycare.  She was also involved in many church activities including: Vacation Bible School, Bible study, Sunday School teacher, and was the director of children's music.
