Beverly Jean Den Hartog was born on April 25, 1928, to Dave and Artie (Van Zee) Den Hartog in Pella, Iowa. Beverly had many fond memories with her parents and growing up on a farm southeast of Pella. Her dad made games including her favorite one, Chinese checkers. She also enjoyed learning how to cook from her mother.
Beverly received her early education at Valley Country School and Pella High School. She attended Central College and received her Teacher’s Certificate. Beverly enjoyed teaching first and second grades at Crawfordsville, Iowa School.
Beverly was united in marriage to Francis Furcht on October 2, 1948. They were blessed with three daughters: Wanda Brom, Arlene (David) Parthun, and Karen Fitzsimmons. They were blessed with seven grandchildren: Jason Brom, Josh Brom, David Parthun, Stephanie Parthun-Fox, Cory Fitzsimmons, Cassie Fitzsimmons, Keegan Fitzsimmons, and great-grandchildren: Brady Parthun Benjamin Parthun, Lynlee Fox, and Layla Fox.
Beverly and Francis raised their family on the farm where they lived until retirement, and moved to Pella in 1973. They built a new home in Pella in 1987. Beverly was a member of the Third Reformed Church since the age of 16, and gave her life to Christ at that time.
She also had special memories with their friends, and enjoyed many vacations with them. Beverly adored time with her daughters. Wanda loved to help Beverly. When Wanda was four she got up early to help hang up the washing on the line using a chair. Beverly enjoyed going with Arlene on vacations to Europe and a Caribbean cruise. Karen took care of her and they enjoyed cooking meals together. In addition, she enjoyed special times with her grandchildren.
Beverly is also survived by her brother-in-law Don Clark and nephews Mike and Dennis Clark.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Francis Furcht, her parents Dave and Artie Den Hartog, her parents-in-law Florence and Maggie Furcht, a grandchild Josiah Emmanuel Lopez, and her sister-in-law Alberta (Furcht) Clark.
